Ideal Massage Therapy and Professional Bodywork

We live in a legal mess. With more lawyers than sense, it is with reluctance I write a disclaimer about my work.

FIRST.

I AM NOT A DOCTOR.

I DO NOT DIAGNOSE, PRESCIBE ANY MEDICATIONS, DO ANY FORM OF SURGERY, OR PRACTICE ANYTHING THAT MAY BE CONSTRUED BY THE AMA AS "MEDICINE".

Do NOT come to me with any of these expectations. If you do, I will not work with you and send off to your primary care physician. They go to medical school for several years for a reason. Take advantage of their knowledge, they have worked hard to aquire it.

SECOND.

I AM NOT A PROSTITUTE.

Despite the prevalence of "happy ending" massage in the industry, I will have NOTHING to do with sexual ANYTHING in my practice. If you solicit such, you will be asked for payment in full, and to immediatly leave my place of work, in addition to being reported to the police. I will NOT tolerate this abuse.

THIRD.

I AM NOT A PRIEST, COUNCELOR, PSYCHOLOGIST, PSYCHIATRIST OR OTHER LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH CARE PRACTIONER.

I WILL listen to you during the session and you can talk about anything you wish, with one exception. If you are discussing a crime you have committed or wish to commit that endagers the public safety, I am required to report that to the police. Please note, I am not a doctor and I do not enjoy the doctor confidentiality priviledge. I can be subpoenaed to testify in court about anything you say or do in session.

FOURTH.

I AM NOT A MIRACLE WORKER.

What I do is helpful to some people. By no means does it help everyone. And frankly the people who are most helped by my work are 1)of a positive attitude towards healing, and 2)ready to do the homework I give, (which is usually working on themselves several times a week.) I will do my absolute best to make sure I am not encouraging you to come to me when you are not being helped by my work. (I do not want you to "waste" money on me.) And I will not be offended if my work does not help you. I might be sad because I like helping people discover how to get out of pain or get more function back, but I will not be offended. If my work does not help you, don't schedule another appointment. Talk to me so I can recommend another health care professional who might work better. I keep a stable of cards of other professionals who I have vetted (usually by letting them work on my body). If I can't help you, I may know someone else who can.
